ham & swiss rolls

Love these little sandwiches, especially for entertaining. You can make them ahead of time, keeping them refrigerated until you're ready to pop them in the oven. So easy. My cute (birthday girl this week) friend Karolyn shared this recipe with me years ago and it's always a hit.

HAM & SWISS ROLLS

24 rolls
mayonnaise
12 thick slices deli ham (black forest)
12 slices Swiss cheese
1/2 c. melted butter
1 1/2 Tbsp. mustard
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 Tbsp. poppy seeds

Slice rolls in half so they open. Spread mayo on top and bottom of the inside of each roll. Assemble rolls with ½ slice of cheese and ½ slice of ham. Place all of these in a baking pan or stone. Mix together the melted butter, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and poppy seeds with a whisk. Brush this mixture all over the tops of the rolls and cover with tin foil. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes until heated through.

These look fabulous. Are they at all messy to eat (leave stuff on your hand)? Kid friendly?

I'm trying them soon.

Thanks,

This recipe is very similar to the breakfast sandwish recipe my Mom makes when the whole family gets together at holidays. I've varied it some and made with deli roast beef (& smoked turkey) & pepper jack cheese. Mmmm...thank goodness Thanksgiving is not too far away...

This is one that will go over well in our family!!!

I was wondering if anyone knew the dimensions of the Becky's recipe book? She shared a photo of it a while back and it uses page protectors (great idea). I loved the idea and the fact that is was clean and organized, so I was thinking of redoing mine, only to include the recipes I actually use, instead of every magazine recipe I have clipped over the years.

Thanks,
Traci

Traci,
To answer your question, she has a binder that will hold half and 8.5x11 sheet. I found page protectors and a binder at Staples. The page protectors are like 5.5x8.5. I put my page in WORD in landscape so it's the long way across the screen, created two columns on it and when I printed out each page, I cut it in half and they fit in the page protectors perfectly. Sorry for the long explanation but the page in CK's website is gone that explains it. :)

Hi Krista,
Thank you so much, you are great. I get it... "I think?" I'm going to give it a try and I'll stop by Staples tomorrow. I didn't think it looked as big as 8.5 x 11, but I wasn't quite sure. I'm excited about starting my new one. I really appreciate your response.

Hi Krista,

I'm sorry to bother you again. Do you have the cardstock and photo dimensions as well? I tried my first page and it just looks so small. My cardstock is 3 x 5.5 and my photo is 2 x 3.5. My photo doesn't seem to stand out. I wish the original article was still there.
Thanks again,
Traci

No worries Traci. I think it had said that the pic was 3x4 so I'm thinking the cardstock was at leats 3.5 by 5.5 or 4x5.5. I haven't actually put the cardstock/photos in mine just yet, but I have started printing out the recipes so as they are made I can take pics as needed then add them later. I'm trying to remember when she had posted about this previously (which was towards the beginning to middle of her blog). Hope this helps!

Krista,

Thank you so much. This really helps. She did post a link, but it is now inactive, I would assume because it has been so long. I can't thank you enough. The word doc worked out great and I printed on standard white cardstock that I buy in bulk. So crisp.
Thanks again,
Traci

Found it. It's in the Wed Sept 5, 07 post. Unfortunately, the link isn't working anymore (probably b/c of CK's updated site) but in the picture, if you know the photo is 3x4, then I'd say it's most likely 4x5.5

And to whomever recommended the country breakfast casserole (can't find those comments) from allrecipes.com IT WAS GREAT!!! They loved it and it was all gone!

These rolls are fantastic! They are my "go to" recipe when I am asked to bring something to a party. :) Have you tried making them with King's Hawaiian rolls? YUM!

I've made these several times since I found your recipe last year. They are fantastic...of course, I have loved every recipe of yours that I've tried--and I've tried many of them. Thank you, Becky.
