pretzel hugs
This is the easiest snack ever. And the kids will love to help. We made a bunch this weekend and delivered them to a few friends & neighbors. This was the first time that we used the waffle-style pretzels (instead of traditional). BIG hit. Much better.
PRETZEL HUGS
1 bag pretzels
1 pkg. M&Ms
1 pkg. Hershey "Hugs"
Place pretzels on baking stone or sheet. Place a Hug on each pretzel and bake at 200 degrees for about 8 minutes (just watch for the Hugs to melt). Remove from oven and promptly place a couple of M&Ms on each pretzel, pressing into the melted chocolate. Allow to cool before serving. At room temperature, this takes SEVERAL hours. I would recommend making these the day before you plan on eating/delivering. Or you can put them in the refrigerator to speed up the process.
Note to self: I tried to experiment with the caramel-filled kisses (the batch before this one). Bad idea. It didn't work. But my friend, Karolyn, said that Rolos work. So maybe you'll want to try that version.

We used Rolos at a Webelos Scouts activity and they are were a big hit!
Oh My! Thank you for sharing this! I just now made some with a slight twist. I had a bag of the peppermint kisses sitting here and decided to use those. So I grabbed a bag of pretzels today and just now made them. I used red and green m&m's so they look very Christmas-sy.
The only thing I found out (and maybe it's because of this kind of kisses) is they really wouldn't melt out. I had to take them out and push the tops down on them. Then a couple more minutes in the oven. Once I added the m&m's it flattened the kisses out a little better and worked fine. And OH MY STARS are they yummy!
Thanks Becky!
i made these yesterday. omg. i think i've gained 10 pounds!!! thanks for sharing this yummy recipe!
These were so yummy! I was making a batch to take to the office, but all my little helpers couldn't get enough. i will have to make another trip to the market so I can make more!
I have been dying to make these for my son's teachers. I started this morning and I cannot get the darn things to melt. I kept checking them and they were hard as rocks. They BURNED! I don't know what happened. I noticed one poster had a slight problem with hers but sounds like hers worked. I am so bummed...and whole bag of kisses wasted! I want to make these but can't afford to keep throwing food away...any suggestions?? I cooked them at 200 on a silpat pan...think that might have been the problem? UGH!
okay...I took a deep breath and tried 2 on my baking stones. It worked when I pushed slightly on the top, like Jennifer did and voila! okay, so I am not a failure in the kitchen!! :O) Off to try a bigger batch this time. I also stuck a Milk Dud on one pretzel along with the 2 kisses and it melted great...will see what it tastes like in a minute!
I made these this year too! I made them using caramel kisses and peppermint kisses. The peppermint ones are my fav!
We make these in our family but we use a Rolo and a cashew nut on top. They are great little crowd pleasers!
oh my gosh they look so yummy I can't wait to try!
I found your recipe on accident while googling for a picture of a ((hug)) to send to a friend. Looks like I'll be sending her some virtual hugs for now and a tasty treat as soon as I go to the grocery store. Thanks for the great recipe! :)
Thanks for posting these - I am going to wait for the Halloween colored M&M's to come out! (Or maybe I will make some today...) :)
To Rachel:
Maybe the difference is that you said you used Kisses, which are all chocolate, right?, and not Hugs, which are mostly white chocolate with a choc. swirl...white chocolate isn't really chocolate at all, and may be more "meltable" than regular chcolate...just a thought:)
We use the rolos to make these too, red and green m&ms at xmas, my sister uses pecans instead of m&ms on top - just as yummy!
The rolo's work really well:) And we also do some with plain Choc kisses for the kid's who don't enjoy white chocolate...(ummm, that would be my freaky crew...)
My 5-yr old and I had the best time making these together today! Thanks for the ideas...I'm so inspired by your recipes and blog. Hope you're enjoying some precious time with baby Crew. :)
I didn't read all the way to the bottom and was just going on my memory of what to do and I used the caramel kisses.....omg! I have the biggest mess...I guess I will be trying the rolos!
Can these be frozen?
Found this recipe while looking for deviled eggs. I will try to make them for Christmas. Thanks!!!!!!!!1
These were so easy and fun to make--and they're so doggone cute. It's been so cold here that they set up just sitting on the tile counter for a couple hours.
Thank you for this recipe!

Hello!
Could someone describe "Hershey "Hugs"" to me? I'm not sure if I can get them in our country and I would like to know what to look for.
Thanks.
To Anonymous regarding Hershey Hugs, they are striped Hershey Kisses. The light stripe is white chocolate and the dark stripe is milk chocolate. You could use regular Kisses--the stripes just make them a bit cuter. I've also read that you can use Rolo candies which sounds yummy, too. -Stephanie T
